White Heather and HMY Britannia

Second Painting by James Flood of Yachts Racing in the Solent in the Early 20th Century

In this painting yachts White Heather and HMY Britannia continue their race in the Solent.

Originally painted on consignment for a gallery in West Palm Beach, Fl, the painting was missing for many years. Shortly after its disappearance, it was learned that the gallery owner in question had been sent to prison under unrelated Federal charges. Many years later it was discovered, when the purchaser contacted the artist for unrelated reasons, that the gallery owner had indeed secretly sold the painting just before the gallery was foreclosed by a lender. Mystery solved.
