Battleship USS Arkansas, BB-33
Battleship USS Arkansas (BB-33) was launched in 1911 and served in both World Wars. This Wyoming-class dreadnought battle ship was old in the twenties and never modernized. Although she was one of the oldest, slowest, and least protected of the battleships, she heroically survived WWII. She was sunk in nuclear weapon tests in 1946.
She is portrayed in this painting in the mid-1930s, serving as flagship for the Training Squadron within the Atlantic Fleet.
